"THREE SIXTY"

Let me think, so what am i rehearsing for?  Snowboard? Skateboard? Surfing? Wakeboarding or simply a Michael Jackson act?

My first Overseas Trip

I love it when mum gets time off work. She makes sure that i experience every faucet of daily life. First it was the Taxi, then it was the Train and now, well I am proud to announce my first ever experience aboard the Ferry to Macau.

It was Boxing Day, I made use of my new passport and mingled alongside the high rollers headed towards the infamous casinos of  Macau.  I, on the other hand -unlike my fellow passengers - was headed toward another direction - a visit to see my newborn friend Edison.

Learning that it's a Cruel, Harsh world out there

Today noted my first experience on the MTR, for those of you who are not so tuned with public transport in Hong Kong, it's actually the name of the underground train. They call it "The TUBE" in London and "Le Metro (French accent)" in Paris.

I sat on mum's lap and decided on being sociable to the fellow passengers on either side of us. Strange though, despite giving each of them a huge saliva dripping smile, they did not seem impressed and responded with a total gormless facial expression.

Mum then whispered in my ear and told me that not everyone in this world is loving and caring, but this should not stop me from being sociable.

Reflecting back, i think I've learnt that I have a lot to learn about the reality of this world.

"MUM" , "DAD" - my first words

Can you believe it, after 4 months of practice ....i can finally mumble the names of the two most important people of my life. I can now say "mum mum mum MUUUUUUUM", and "ba ba baaaa ba"...

The World is a more Colourful place

This is my latest toy.  I hang from the door in mid-air. The view from where i'm standing just became more interesting. "Thanks mum (sarcasm)....think it makes me look like a window cleaner. Then again, I feel a flying sensation, so it could be a great simulator for a probable future career in the cockpit..."!

Coldest day experienced

Coldest Day experienced in HK, a mere 9 degress celcius and  a couple of degrees colder in the mountainous areas where i live.  With no central heating, I can only keep warm by snuggling up with mum & dad in bed, wearing the "legendary" duvet/babygro of cousin James from 20 years, and my "smittens" (socks cross-over mitts), coz mum thinks that my socks serve the same purpose to keep my little hands warm - TALK TO THE HAND!

"An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away"

At the grand old age of 4 months and one week, i get introduced to food outside the realms of what has been known to me as "milk".  Not only has my mum gone finally gone far out to give me my first drop of water, she's also made my life much more colourful and fed me the real deal

It is proven by moi that apples and grapes taste far better than my plain old fingers...yum yum.

A Safe Landing

Say "NO" to drugs [唔好Take嘢]

My First Experience with Drugs
Posted by Picasa
After my jabs at the clinic, i felt so feverish that  mummy got me to take drugs in the middle of the night. I got so high that i stared  in mid space, talking and smiling to myself for over an hour.

Now I know that when i grow older and get "feverish" around the girls...."Paracetamol" is the way to go!

"2nd Generation Joe"

"2nd Generation Joe", is the expression that mum uses to describe spoilt brats like me who were born with a silver spoon our mouths.

Anyway, I've noticed my parents doing a lot of "shifty business" over the past couple of days. From various phone conversations that I overhear, I find that they spontaneously went out to Kennedy Town and saw that they came home with "an apartment" in their shopping bag.....oooohhhh how exciting....i wonder if it's going to be my Xmas Present :-)

Water baby

I learnt that life is all about about taking risks. Today my rebellious mum & dad took the risk of a potential scalding from our nagging grandparents and sneaked out to take me swimming for the first time. At the grand age of 7 weeks, my parents are determined to make me the next Olympic winner-junior team.
I hit the pool looking for Michael Phelps (dad's Swimming hero) and forgot about the potential risks of pneumonia and chlorine induced infections as pre-warned by those who think they know better!
"Someone bring me some suntan lotion please, SPF 50 would do nicely, Thank You"

My first Mid Autumn Festival

Whilst everyone ate mooncakes and played with lanterns...unfortunately I was too young for all of that.
My dad & I - sunbathing...
Instead, my parents decided to take me on my first trip to the seaside to celebrate chinese lunar mid-Autumn.  We bumped into a few of daddy's friends so I decided to be on my best behaviour (for a change)...... but I'm telling you, this "keeping up appearances" can be v. tiresome - off to bed for a few hours now....GOOD NIGHT!

Officially Certified

Received my first ever certificate. I am no longer a "nobody" but a registered citizen of Hong Kong.

After months of headache, and lots of trial and error such as Stuart, Jayson, Alistair, Lauren, William plus the assistance 40,001 baby names, I am now presented as  Calum Alistair Lam, LAW - I was named by my cousin Sheila who thinks Calum is a bad boy's name, so I guess no other name fits me more perfectly!

Silver Service

I am officially one month old which marks the end of my confinement month. It's like being in prison at home, confined to 4 walls and seeing the same people day in and day out. Believe me, I have expressed my displeasure about being confined but my parents just don't get it, they just sigh & stress out as i express the power of my lungs!

I do have something to share with with everyone though, as today is a special occasion, I was taken on a roadtrip into town. WOW i can tell you it was an AWESOME experience. Not only did i get to ride in a baby car seat on my way out, I also got to go to the InterCon for a celebratory buffet lunch....everything was exactly what I had dreamt about; cool environment, beautiful people, staff meet & greet on arrival and best of all......get this .....my milk was served in a "Silver Bucket" - Now that's what I call 5 star service!!!

I love all the attention of visitors who dropped by showering me with lots of goodies. Mum tells me that i should not get used to and be spoiled by all the attention, I am not bothered about all the fuss though. I love seeing all my aunties, uncles and meeting my new found friends :-)

ROCK ON !!

Indecisive...

I knew it....my parents have changed their minds again.  Now they don't want to call me "Jayson" and are contemplating yet another name.  It's really not worthwhile telling everyone what they want me to be called. I think I will wait for them to apply it to my birth certificate before I officially publish my name.

My Very First Reading Book - The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Clarke

"The Very Hungry Caterpillar" is my very first reading book. It was read to me as a bedtime story.
I was told that it was voted by cousin Annabel as her favourite book from 19 years ago. Cousin Annabel is really smart, so I am sure by reading this title will make me as smart and clever as her!

My 12th Day Birthday {十二朝}

Today is a turning point for me as it is my 12th day birthday. Tradition has it that after 12 days my mum is supposed to have recovered and we are open for guests to visit. Where I live in the traditional villages, we openly serve Chicken Wine {雞酒} and Ginger Vinegar {薑醋}, these are the dishes are supposed to contain not only high levels of alcohol :-) but high levels of calcium which is good for mum's recovery process.

In actual fact the wine in the chicken wine is actually made from fermenting rice.  We started making ours back in March when they heard that i was arriving in August. The Ginger Vinegar was made a month ago in order to ensure that the ginger is absorbed and made soft as it emerges with the sweetened vinegar.  There is a saying that if "the ginger turns out sweet" then it shows that I am a good baby.  Anyway, my mum tells me everyday that I am a good boy anyway!

Before serving these items we also have to do a Bai Sun/worship ceremony, where we have to serve the gods first.

Mum says she is no traditionalist and she won't be touching anything of the above...so i've decided that i will share it with my aunties, uncles & grandparents instead.  Though my grandmother, has been eating the Chicken wine all afternoon, and has passed out at the kitchen table!

Monday Morning Blues

I think I've been rather tired lately.  I've used up far too much energy crying for attention over the past few days and have successfully kept my parents awake in the middle of the night. Today I am feeling the repercussions and have a very low energy level.  I slept like a log all day with the exception of getting up to bath, eat and well....the inevitable - Excreet!

First Sunday at Home

Sunday morning is blissful. It captures the attention of waking up daddy whilst mummy is fast asleep. Daddy bathes me & feeds me and does all the jobs that mum does daily. I hear them talk about a Sunday Brunch, I've picked up on the word "Champagne", wonder what it is .....can't be any better than my bottle of Milk...

Vote for a name

So my name is 羅霖 for those of you who read chinese it is my Dad and Mum's surname put together. My english name however is not published yet. Today, they think i should use "Jayson", dad (Jay) says that it is because I am his son. Mum thinks it sounds good too, because in Greek, it means "healer, man on a quest" (mum thinks that if it means "healer", then someday i may even be a doctor...

Anyway, tomorrow they may change their mind again...
